Your Questions Answered
Everything you need to know about getting started
1. What makes Off The Block different from traditional physical therapy?
We're a cash-based, performance-focused practice. That means you get one-on-one care with a Doctor of Physical Therapy for 60-75 minutes every visit—not 15 minutes with a PT followed by exercises with an aide. You see the same therapist every time, ensuring true continuity of care. Our goal isn't just to restore function, but to raise your body's capacity so you return to your activities stronger and more resilient than before your injury.
2. Do you accept insurance?
We are a cash-based practice, which means we don't bill insurance directly. However, we provide detailed superbills that you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. This model allows us to spend more time with you, create truly personalized treatment plans, and focus on your goals rather than insurance company limitations.
3. What happens during my first visit?
Your initial evaluation is a comprehensive 75-minute session where your Doctor of Physical Therapy will take a detailed history, assess your movement patterns, identify the root cause of your back pain, and begin treatment on day one. You'll leave with a clear understanding of what's causing your pain and a personalized plan to get you back to your active lifestyle. The initial evaluation is $299.
4. Can you help with chronic back pain that I've had for years?
Absolutely. Many of our patients come to us after dealing with chronic back pain for months or even years. Our approach looks beyond symptom management to identify and address the underlying movement dysfunctions, strength imbalances, and biomechanical issues contributing to your pain. Using manual therapy, dry needling, targeted exercise, and movement retraining, we help break the cycle of chronic pain.
5. How long are treatment sessions?
Follow-up treatment sessions are typically 60 minutes of one-on-one time with your Doctor of Physical Therapy. This extended time allows for hands-on manual therapy, guided exercise, movement assessment, and education—everything needed to achieve lasting results.
6. What should I bring to my first appointment?
Wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows for easy movement. Bring a list of any current medications, previous imaging results if available (X-rays, MRIs), and information about your goals and activities you want to return to. Most importantly, come ready to be an active participant in your recovery.
